The three days tour is a great alternative for people travelling with short time. Come and join us to discover the wildlife and nature that Cuyabeno Reserve has to offer.

Itinerary

2 NIGHTS / 3 DAYS

Day 1

Overnight bus from Quito, Banos or other destinations in Ecuador to get to Lago Agrio. We can arrange the shared bus from Quito to Lago Agrio, the bus ride will take approximately 7 to 8 hours. The other alternative is by plane.  You can also purchase flight tickets with us to fly from Quito to Lago Agrio. The flight code is Tame EQ 201 and EQ210

For the people traveling by bus the meeting point is “La Casa de Mi Abuelo” around 9:30 am, with one representative of the Guacamayo Eco Lodge. After picking up the people who will arrive by plane, you will journey by private transport to the entrance to the Cuyabeno Reserve, for 2 hours.

From the entrance of the Reserve Cuyabeno you will take the canoe ride down the Cuyabeno River to get to the lodge, approximately 2 hours, if the river has a considerable level of water, when is shallow in the dry season will take more time. The lunch is served at the Lodge around 14:00. In the afternoon you will start the activity around 16:00, to visit the Laguna Grande and other attractions nearby. Around 17:30 you will get to the Lagoon to swim and to see the sunset, which is one of the most amazing part of the tour. At 18:00 an exciting night walk waits for you, during the walk can expect to see lots of insects, spiders, tarantulas; also, to listen the jungle at night which is so incredible. The dinner is serving at 20:00. After dinner the guide will impart a short briefing of the Lodge and the reserve Cuyabeno, also the itinerary for the next day. Rest.

Day 2

The breakfast is served at 8:00 am, however, you can wake up early in the morning; if you like birds you can always be on top of the canopy tower watching birds, also the sunrise.

After breakfast, you will take a short canoe ride to the Laguna Grande. Here around the Lagoon there are couple of paths where you’ll take a hike in the rainforest for 3 hours approximately, to learn about medicinal plants and the biological flora and fauna. Ones the hike is ended, you will return to the lodge with the motor canoe or paddling.

The lunch is around 1pm, after lunch you’ll have time to relax by the river or enjoy a siesta in one of our hammocks. The afternoon activity starts around 4pm, that includes to take a short canoe ride to other Lagoons nearby and the Cuyabeno River to look for some wildlife. Around 17:30, is time to swim and watch the sunset. Around 18:00, you will start the activity for Caiman searching, maybe if you are lucky, probably see the Amazon Tree Boa which is common to see at night.

Dinner at 20:00, rest.

Day 3

You will wake up early in the morning, the activity starts at 06:00 a.m to 08:00 a.m

The activity is contrasting Birdwatching or searching for any kind of animals’ species in the tranquility of the early morning. The breakfast is at 08:00 a.m. After breakfast is time to pack, in order to start the journey up the Cuyabeno River around 09:00 a.m from the Lodge, to get back to the Entrance of the Reserve. Along the River you will have time for taking the last look at the jungle animals, flora and fauna. The tour ends in Lago Agrio around 14:00 pm.

From Lago Agrio you can travel to any destinations in Ecuador. We arrange the shared bus to Quito and Banos upon request.

Breakfast at 08:00 a.m.  Is time to be prepare for the full day adventure. The canoe ride stars around 09:00 a.m down the Cuyabeno River, slowly looking for some wildlife. Like in one hour you will arrive to the indigenous community; where you’ll visit an indigenous family. Here the guide will take you around, to explain about their culture and traditions.; following with the emblematic activity of the preparation of the traditional food called “Casabe”. The preparation includes demonstration and degustation of the traditional food.

Further down, on the Cuyabeno River is located the Shaman, the program involves to visit the shaman and to know about his culture and tradition. Also, to get treated with a medicinal plant called “red stinging nettle”

After visiting the Shaman, you will stop down the Cuyabeno River to see the biggest tree in the Rainforest called “Ceiba”, then head back to the lodge, where you will arrive at 16:00 more or less. Now you can have a short break to have a tea or coffee.

If you don’t feel tired you can go to the Lagoon to see the last sunset and to search for animals that you haven’t seen yet. Dinner at 20:00.

Day 4

The four-day program takes the opportunity to paddle in an ecological canoe to experience jungle life at a slower pace. The itinerary gives you greater opportunities to indulge in the magic of the jungle and offers the opportunity to see the elusive wildlife not already spotted.

Excellent alternative for couples or people not expecting to be in large groups all the time.
